Bile breaks up the fats in the nutrients. Next, the small intestine mixes the juices up with the nutrients. Most of the nutrients go to some small blood vessels. The blood moves the nutrients to the cells. The rest of the nutrients move on to the large intestine. The large intestine is a thick tube that removes all wastes. The nutrients is now called a “waste.”The large intestine includes a cecum, a colon, and a rectum. The cecum connects the large intestine to the small intestine. The colon absorbs water and minerals from the waste. The rectum stores and then eliminates the waste. As you can see, there are a few steps in the last stage of digestion.
