Elitha Donner – Accelerated Learning Program
  • Welcome!

    • Elitha Donner Accelerated Learning Program is designed for students who want to take an active role in determining what they want to learn and how they will learn it.

The topic and the form may be determined by grade level curriculum, teacher assignments and/or student interest. Being accelerated means doing different work, not just more of the same class work. Grades 1-6 can be part of the Accelerated program. For more information about our program, please click on Program Information under the heading Information for Parents.

Fill out the plan and return it to your child’s teacher.

The Elitha Donner Accelerated Learning Program is on its way. If you are interested in the Accelerated Learning Program, please take the time to talk with your child about what level they want to be in. This would be a good time to discuss what area and what topics your child wants to explore. You can accomplish this by filling out the planning sheet with your student. Make sure to talk to your student’s teacher to determine what your child is working on in their regular classroom setting.

GATE identification – the GATE identification process will be based on a multiple criteria matrix. The purpose of this change in criteria is to establish identification methods based on multiple measures of achievement and potential, and to provide an equitable basis for entry into the GATE program for all students.

Based on the research literature, best practices from the field, and input from stakeholders in EGUSD, the following measures were selected for inclusion into the GATE Identification Matrix:

      California Standards Test scores

      Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test scores

      Grade point average

      Equity factor

      Accelerated classroom performance

      Creative ability

The matrix will be available and used exclusively by all schools beginning the 2013-2014 school year.

GATE Referral Forms are completed by your school site GATE Coordinator. GATE Referral Forms will not be accepted by the Elk Grove Unified School District Gifted and Talented Education Program unless complete with all signatures and qualifying documentation.

Transfer students’ evidence from other school district GATE Programs must meet the Elk Grove Unified School District criteria. Parent and site administrator signatures are required.
