Mr. Blomquist’s Message for 20-21

Good afternoon all Roadrunners!

We are hard at work preparing for a successful beginning of the school year!  Once again, I would like to remind you that all students in all grade levels will begin their school year through a Distance Learning model beginning on Thursday, August 13th at 8:00 AM.  Your child’s teacher will be sharing more specific information with you regarding their daily schedules, expectations for learning, and much more prior to the 13th.  I have seen many of the communications that teachers are sending home and they are awesome!

Please take note of the following information regarding Materials Distribution, Back to School Night, the Textbook Guideline Form, and Office Visits

Materials Distribution:

  • All students will receive textbooks and other learning resources based on a comprehensive list comprised by their teachers that will be used during the first trimester of school.
  • We will use a process similar to what was used last spring.  Parents will be asked to loop completely around the parking lot and pull up to the last open space next to the library in the bus lane.  Please do not stop by the gate as this will hinder the smooth flow of traffic.
  • School staff wearing appropriate protective equipment will approach the car to collect your signed Textbook Guideline Form and deliver your materials.
  •  For the safety of our students, families, and staff, please do not exit your vehicle!
  • We have created a by grade level schedule to assist with ease in accessing materials and hopefully limit long lines and wait time for families.  Please adhere to your scheduled time!

Materials Distribution Schedule:

  • 1st grade:  Monday, August 10th – 2:00pm – 3:00pm
  • 2nd grade:  Monday, August 10th – 3:00pm – 4:00pm
  • 3rd grade:  Tuesday, August 11th – 8:00am – 9:00am
  • 4th grade:  Tuesday, August 11th – 9:00am – 10:00am
  • 5th grade:  Tuesday, August 11th – 10:00am – 11:00am
  • 6th grade:  Tuesday, August 11th – 11:00am – 12:00

Kindergarten Kickoff!:  Wednesday,  August 12th from 11:30am -1:00pm

The distribution of materials for Kindergarten Kickoff will follow the same process as the other grades.  But, we will be handing out Kindergarten materials right in front of the school office so our newest Roadrunners have a chance to see where their classrooms will be once we return to in person instruction!

Please contact our office if you miss your scheduled distribution time.

Back To School Night:

  • All teachers will hold two Zoom meetings to welcome parents back for the school year.
  • All Grades:  Tuesday, August 11th:  5:30 – 6:15 and 6:30 – 7:15
  • Teachers will be communicating with parents regarding other opportunities to be in contact on a consistent basis.

Textbook Guideline Form:

Please see the attached Textbook Guideline form and be sure to fill it out and bring it with you when you come to pick up your materials.   We will be collecting these forms as we hand out the materials to each student.  If you are picking up materials for any other student, you will need to have a form filled out by them before we can release the materials to you.

Office Visits:

If you need to visit the school office during the period of Distance Learning, please call the office to make an appointment at (916) 682-2653 whenever possible. This will help us to limit the number of people arriving at the same time in the office entry space.

Student Belongings and Textbooks

Monday, May 18, 2020

Hello CRES Families!

Four weeks of Distance Learning down, and two to go!  Once again, I think you all are doing a fabulous job of parenting, working, and teaching … I know you all didn’t sign up for this, but I appreciate, respect, and admire how everyone has taken on this responsibility and are working closely with classroom teachers to make this learning platform successful for your child.  Please make sure to connect with your child’s teacher if you need clarification or have any concerns as we finish this school year together.

This week, teachers are in classrooms (social distancing on a rotating schedule) and preparing classrooms for deep cleaning.  They will be putting student belongings in donated brand new Raley’s plastic bags with students’ names on them.  The belongings will be available for pickup based on the following schedule.  During this pickup of belongings (including prizes from the online fundraiser), we would appreciate the return of CRES library books and textbooks.  We scheduled grade levels throughout the week and during the “Grab-n-Go” mealtime so you can pick up lunch (and breakfast for the next day) in front of the school, and then pick up student belongings in front of the library in the bus loading/offloading zone.  If you are unable to pickup during that timeframe, and another family can pick yours up, you can certainly do that.  We will courtesy call you the following week to pick up belongings from the office by appointment.  Here’s the schedule:

  • Friday, 5/22/2020 from 12:15 – 1:15 pm:  Kindergarten (also dropping off their Distance Learning packets)
  • Tuesday, 5/26/2020 from 12:15 – 1:15 pm:  1st & 2nd Grades
  • Wednesday, 5/27/2020 from 12:15 – 1:15 pm:  3rd & 4th Grades
  • Thursday, 5/28/2020 from 12:15 – 1:15 pm:  5th & 6th Grades

Report Cards will be available on ParentVue (Synergy) on Friday, May 29, 2020.  No report cards will be printed or mailed this school year, but all report cards can be accessed (and printed if desired) from ParentVue.  Go to ParentVue account and find the “A+Report Card” link to click on.  If you have not yet set up your ParentVue account, please call the office so we can email you an activation code and directions (916) 682-2653), Monday-Friday, 9 am – 3 pm.

See you next week for pick up of student belongings and return of library and textbooks!

Thanks again for all that you are doing and have done these past months,

Sheila Caruthers, Principal
