On-line tests

I have figured out how to take our Friday Open Court tests on-line. You will fill your answers into a Zoho form. It will then convert them to a spreadsheet that will make it easy and quick for me to grade. So you can look forward to that (and hopefully it will work!)

Thursday with a Sub

To begin today, take a piece of paper and number from 1-12. Then write the 504 vocabulary word that fills in the blank below. Use your notes to help you.

Next we will cover your assignment in the Comprehension WB.

On pgs 16-17, do the identify and practice sections, but skip the apply section. Remember, compare means how they are the same, and contrast means how they are different.
On pg 18, just highlight or circle the time and order words.
Then do all of pgs. 19-25.
Next, you will read “St. George and the Dragon” by yourself

When you finish, on a sheet of paper, answer the following 6 questions. Give good, long, complete answers. Turn it in when you are finished

SAINT GEORGE AND THE DRAGON

1.On page 66, the author compares the dragon to “a great hill.” Which word in that sentence signals a comparison?

2.What other comparisons does the author make on page 66?
3.Identify passages (sentences) on pages 68 and 69 where the author compares and contrasts to illustrate characters, events, or other elements.
4.What qualities of the Red Cross Knight allowed him to accomplish his mission? (p.71)
5.Who helped the Red Cross Knight to persevere in his quest to kill the dragon? How did they help? (p. 71)
6.How were Una and the Red Cross Knight alike? How were they different? Considering things that really matter, were they, on balance, more alike or more different? (p. 71).
After you finish the questions, turn them in. Then it is workshop. During workshop, you may work on your blog/fairy tale (it’s due tomorrow), or work on the Comprehension WB pages, or read in your AR book.
Here’s something that will help you with the vocabulary test.

Math
Go to ThatQuiz. Do multiplication, Long B. Make the length 5 and start with level 10. Work on multiplication for 15 minutes, the change to division and do that with the same settings for 15 minutes. Move the level up as you go to make it harder.
You will take a math quiz, then have time for HW. After lunch, science.

Wednesday will be a minimum day with dismissal at 12:20. Students were given a notice today, but it may not have made it home. Sorry for the short notice, but I just found out today.
