Read “Fire Builder”
Spelling 2-5
Think of your 3 talents/gifts

Math
Book Pg. 5 (1-19)

AR – 60 minutes

If you need some help with Chapter 1 math, open or download the file 6thislch1.pdf  from my drop site.

Read this paragraph and see the vocabulary words at work:

My Brother, the Gentleman
The story of Sir Walter Raleigh, who spread his
cloak on the ground to keep Queen Elizabeth
from the hardship of crossing a muddy puddle,
can qualify that nobleman for an award as a man
of tact and good breeding. My brother Kenny, a
bachelor with a keen interest in history, was
impressed by that anecdote and thought he might
demonstrate his excellent upbringing in a parallel
situation. Accordingly he decided to abandon his
subway seat in favor of a woman standing nearby.
Although unaccustomed to such generous
treatment, the young woman was pleased to
accept Kenny’s kind offer. However, her jealous
boyfriend swore an oath under his breath
because he thought my brother was flirting with
his girlfriend. I don’t have any data on the number
of young men who get into similar trouble as
a result of a gallant gesture, but it’s probably one
in a thousand. Poor Kenny! He pointed to the now
vacant seat.

Saturday

Here’s my exciting Saturday. I took my parents to the airport, then went to San Francisco. Took Trevor to see Rugby 7′s at Treasure Island, then into the city to do some shopping for Casey. Now I’m at the famous Sam Wo restaurant in Chinatown. We’ll get gelato in North Beach, then head out to the ocean before going home.

I hope you’re all doing your reading.

Leave me a comment.

Ok my friends, you’ve had a very good week. Look over on the right under Math Links and pick Multiplication Games. Choose any game that is on that page. Don’t go to another page.

Next, go down to the post from the other day that will lead you to the Wild Web Woods.

Wednesday

Many times this year I will ask you to go to my blog to begin an assignment. It is critical that you read all the directions that I give you.

The first thing we will be doing today is working on some simple addition and subtraction problems. Use your whiteboard or scratch paper to do the work, then type it in. You will go to Thatquiz. When you get there, under Integers click Arithmetic. On the left side, check the boxes for Addition and Long B. If you get them all correct, move to a higher level by changing the level on the left side.

Also, I’d like to introduce you to Internet safety. It is a web site made by the counties of Finland and Monaco. It’s called Wild Web Woods. Read How it Works first, then get started. The United States is not on the country list, so pick whatever you would like.
