Vacation Notes

Here are the highlights of my note to students and parents about vacation homework.

During vacation, one assignment they have is to read every day for 60 minutes. This will improve their reading skills, as well as give them a head start on their next Accelerated Reader goal. On the first day, I tested them to find what level they read at. They were told which books to choose from, and how many points they needed to get before vacation

Please have students read every day. Students should have brought books home, or may need to go to the Southgate library to get more books.

A second assignment is to practice math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division). I have links on my blog to Internet sites students can use. Flashcards are a great way to practice. My blog address is: http://ferreiraeblog.blogspot.com

Also, I would like students to write in their blog during the break. Students can write about anything, make up stories, express views , movie reviews, daily journals, etc. Students log in at: http://www.blogger.com
