AR is accelerated reader, a program to improve reading. Students read books in their level and takes comprhension tests at the end. Students have been given a point goal they must reach by Friday, August 17. They will read in class and at home EVERY day. They should read 45-60 minutes at home. Their goal should be about 30 pages per day. Please remember to takes your book home and bring it back. A list of books that we have quizzes for is in a link to the right.
It is a great program and is a part of the reading grade. I would like everyone to get at least 100 point this year. that will definitely improve your reading skills.

We tried to get started with our blogs today. We need more time tomorrow. I have fixed the problems with Jesse and Paola’s blogs, so they are good to go. I got an email from a parent. That is very exciting!
The only real homework is to read for 1 hour or 60 minutes in your AR book and to get your contract signed and returned. Plan on reading EVERY day for the rest of the year. You are going to become a better reader!

Today I talked and talked and talked. Students need to get their supplies, have their parents fill out the information sheet, and find out where Tonga is. I looked at the reading tests and we have some work to do.
See everyone tomorrow.

Welcome to everyone who is reading my blog for the first time. I’m looking forward to getting to know my new class and having a great year. This will be the place to find out what’s going on in our class. I will post the homework here each day. Parents, this is where you can check up on your students when they say “I don’t have any homework.”
Book mark this site so it’s easy to come back often. On the right, you see how to email me. Use the school email before 2:30 and the home one after school hours. Email is the best way to contact me.

We’ve made it to London. We’ve been shopping, eating, seen the Tower of London, the British Museum, and of course, Harry Potter in the sold out Odeon theater in Leicester Square. It was great. The weather is better, though it drizzled today. We’ve eaten fish and chips, crepes (chocolate of course) and plenty of ice cream. We are off to the Tate Modern now.
Thanks for the note Travis. Hope you’re having a good vacation. Glad you are still reading.
